Wolcen 2 is Coming & Playtest Starts Now – A Message to Our Community
Salvation demands sacrifice. Today we are excited to finally reveal what we've been working on: Wolcen 2, sequel to Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. Set years after the events of the first game, Wolcen 2 returns to a world on the brink of collapse. You will master brutal combat, channel dark, transformative powers and play solo or in up to four-player co-op in your quest to save reality. With no pre-defined classes, you'll choose the weapons that suit your preferred playstyle, then unlock, customize and master their abilities. As you develop passive talents and find gear that supports your choices, your character gradually grows into an archetype of your own making. Wolcen 2 is coming to Early Access in 2027. A Message to Our Community With the announcement of Wolcen 2, we also want to speak directly to those of you who played and supported Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. Whether you've been with us for years or are just discovering our games today, thank you for being here. We know that for some of you, the announcement of this sequel will come with scepticism, particularly because of how support for Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem ended. We understand that and want to address it directly. Hence, we'd like to briefly talk about Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, Wolcen 2 and its development. The team behind Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was committed to supporting the game for the long term and worked hard to improve it through updates, new chapters, additional items, UI improvements and balancing. However, over time it became clear that the game's technical foundation made continued development increasingly difficult and limited what we could sustain and improve. Addressing these limitations would require a complete rebuild of major parts of the game. Faced with that reality, we made the difficult decision to stop active development and focus our efforts on building new projects on stronger technical foundations. This was not a decision we took lightly, but one we believed was necessary to ensure we could apply the lessons we learned and deliver better experiences in the future. That is why Wolcen 2 is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, giving the team a modern, well-established foundation that is already working well for us in the development of Gods, Death & Reapers. As we begin this new journey with you, our focus is on building trust through actions, transparency and consistent communication. Built From Lessons Learnt We have learnt a great deal from our community over the years, and those lessons are influencing how we build Wolcen 2 and how we develop it with you. We know how frustrating it is when access to a game’s multiplayer depends on infrastructure that may not remain available forever. That experience shaped our approach to co-op in Wolcen 2 from the beginning. Multiplayer sessions now use peer-to-peer connections, allowing players to host games directly rather than relying entirely on centralized servers. As long as the campaign remains playable, you'll also be able to experience it together. And that brings us to why community-driven development is one of the core pillars of Wolcen 2. Through regular playtests, you'll have opportunities to experience the game early, share feedback, and help shape the game with us. We'll provide regular development updates, answer your questions , and keep you informed about the development progress. Wolcen Studio Today Wolcen Studio has evolved considerable since the development of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. Today, Wolcen 2 and Gods, Death & Reapers are being developed by dedicated teams, combining experience from within Wolcen Studio with new talent that has joined us over the years. Throughout Wolcen 2's development, we'll be introducing some members of the team on our YouTube channel and other platforms, giving you the opportunity to meet the people behind the project and learn more about the decisions shaping the game. Wolcen 2 is planned to enter Early Access in 2027, with your feedback playing an essential role throughout development. The full release is planned for PC and current-generation consoles. Beyond launch, we intend to continue expanding the game with additional stories, activities designed to expand the world, and endgame content over time. We'd like to once again thank you for your support, patience and the opportunity to show you what we're building. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.
