    Frequently Asked Questions

    FAQ

What is an action RPG or aRPG?

An action role-playing game (commonly abbreviated as ARPG or aRPG) is a video game genre that blends core elements of action games with role-playing mechanics.

However, this is a broad category. This website specifically focuses on a particular subgenre of ARPGs that typically follow these principles:

    • Isometric perspective - Top-down or angled camera view
    • Loot-driven gameplay - Emphasis on finding, collecting, and upgrading equipment
    • Character build systems - Deep customization through skills, talents, and itemization
    • Seasonal content - Regular fresh starts and leagues that reset progress
    • Live service model - Frequent updates, patches, and new content drops

You will find games such as Diablo, Grim Dawn, and Path of Exile here. You won't find games such as Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Hades, or Warframe here—at least for now.

If you really want a specific game added to the website, please contact me on GitHub or Discord.

Is there a company or game studio behind aRPG Timeline?

No, aRPG Timeline is a community-driven project, primarily maintained by Ayron.

This website is not affiliated with any game studio and will never accept paid promotion, advertising, or preferential treatment from publishers. All games are added through community suggestions or independent research. If a studio requests a game to be added, it will be handled exactly the same as any other entry.

If you’d like to support my work, you can do so via Patreon. I do not accept sponsorships from game studios, as they could create imbalance or bias.

Studios are welcome to support the site on the same terms as any other community member - through Patreon.

What is a season tracker and why do I need one?

Many aRPG players follow a cyclical pattern - jumping into new seasons for a few days or weeks, then taking breaks until the next season launches. ARPG Timeline helps you plan your gaming schedule by tracking launch dates across multiple games, so you never miss a season start.

How can I support your work?

If you would like to support me financially, you can do it by joining my Patreon. You can also consider contributing to the development or moderation of this site. You contact me on Discord or write an email. All forms of feedback are vastly appreciated.

    How does aRPG Timeline work?

We monitor the most popular aRPG games and collect information about their current and upcoming seasons or content updates. This data is presented in an easy-to-read timeline format, showing launch dates, end dates, and other relevant season information across different games. You can even share these events or add them yo your favorite calendar apps!

How often is this site updated?

Season announcements: Updated within 48 hours of official announcements, usually less than 24 hours.
Launch dates: Updated immediately upon confirmation
End dates: May experience slight delays as publishers don't always advertise these prominently

Be understanding though - this is all effort of a single person at the moment.

Are dates displayed in my local time?

Yes! All dates automatically display in your local timezone. You can even add events directly to your calendar app for convenience.

What does the "COMMUNITY" tag mean?

The COMMUNITY tag indicates content created by fans or third parties without official publisher support. While these community-driven content can be excellent, any issues or questions should be directed to their creators rather than the original game developers which usually do choose not to participate in any way or are unaware of the mod.

    How is the website updated?

We monitor a range of channels including: official game websites and announcements, community wikis and forums, reddit discussions, steam news and updates, developer social media. Our process combines AI-assisted monitoring with human verification to ensure accuracy while maintaining efficiency.

Could you add a new feature?

Absolutely! We welcome feature suggestions. Please submit your suggestions as an issue on our GitHub page, contact me on Discord or write an email.

Could you add a new game to the list?

Yes, as long as it's an aRPG with seasonal cycles that fits the website. Use the same contact methods above to suggest new games.

    Is the website broken?

We apologize for any issues you've encountered. Please report bugs through our GitHub page, contact me on Discord or write an email.

Am I the product? Does the website have a hidden cost?

Absolutely not! This website will always remain free of charge, without ads or monetization. My only support comes from your donations and kind words, which I truly appreciate. I prioritize your privacy and providing high-quality free content, and as long as I can manage it myself, I will continue to do so. If I ever request money, it will be for optional features that may incur infrastructure costs, such as Discord notifications or newsletters. These features will not affect the current website experience and incoming incremental updates to build the best season tracker that will ever exist!
